Why have hermits and thinkers gone to the forest to surrender to its stillness? There is a connection between forest life and creativity, whether spiritual or intellectual. What is it about the forest air that no artist has bothered to investigate and no entrepreneur bothered to bottle and sell?
I came across this piece while looking up Aranyakas, and it's great! I'm going to read part II, but wanted to share one of my favourite post-punk songs in reciprocity: The Cure's "A Forest." The lyrics are basically about a hallucinatory, dream-like experience of a man being called to a forest by a mysterious woman, getting lost in that space, and never getting out. If you have any ideas on analogue for this within Indian writing, be it English or bhasa, please do share. Here it is on YouTube: https://youtu.be/SbAxbmAHgx4?si=n1NPZgeaBMAsib9w
PS: I just read Part II and that answered my last question.
What a wonderful reminder of a perspective so missing in our culture. Glued to the backlit screen and its hectic pace, we forget nature's grandeur, beauty, and her important lessons on life's slow pace, observations which help calm the jitters
