Even as a child, I found Nancy beguiling and bewildering; I hated the strip, but always read it. This is a wonderful expose of what the Nancy experience is like. Sluggo was really the uncanny, with that hat.
This was quite enjoyable, though I can't decide whether or not it takes "Nancy"--about which I certainly have not thought in decades--too seriously. At any rate, it took me back to my younger days, when after delivering the papers on my route, I would faithfully read at least two things, the box scores and the comics. Kind of neat to see NYRB bring out a collection like this.
A great but underrated strip.

There is something about their shape... the way they seem immobilized by it.
And don't forget the hair!
